Medina del Campo is the first municipality in Castilla y León to launch the Open Shopping Centre Project with which the structure of traditional trade in the town has been revitalised and modernised. The Open Shopping Centres are collections of shops located for the most part in the historical quarters of towns, which transform these urban spaces into large open air shopping areas.
The commercial activities per se in Medina del Campo are complemented with other activities which make the Historic and Commercial Centre of the Town the most attractive location for the consumer, increasing the commercial services and facilities to include finance, catering and leisure in general.
The incomparable framework of the huge Plaza Mayor de la Hispanidad and its surrounding streets form the OSC (Open Shopping Centre) of Medina del Campo, under the name of “Historic Centre, Commercial Medina”, creating an urban space full of life and vitality which hosts the greater part of the socio-cultural agenda of the town throughout the year and is open every Sunday of the year.
